Have you ever gone into your closet to look for a pair of kicks only to stumble upon another pair and be like, “Damn, I forgot I bought these.”? I had that moment this past weekend. But the sad thing is that some of the kicks that I “forgot” I bought were purchased within the last 2 months. This month in particular has been an incredibly memorable and equally expensive one for Jordan Brand aficionados and collectors such as me. There were the “Fire Red” IIIs, the “Cement Grey” Son Of Mars, the “Green Glow” IVs, and the “Fear Pack” (III, IV, and V) from this past weekend. Now that we’re heading towards the home stretch, the brain trust over at Jordan Brand has decided to hit us with yet another retro release (just when I was thinking it was safe to buy lunch again….FML).
But this has certainly been a stupendous summer for serious sneakerheads, sneaker sites, Stans, resellers and surveyors of several celebrated shoes that have shown the ability stand the test of time. Say that 3x fast! I know somewhere Tinker Hatfield is smiling from ear to hear. The first 3 sneakers that he designed for Jordan might be the greatest 3 peat in basketball shoe history. It’s rare enough to have two back-to-back gems, but three?!? I’m saying though……3?!?! The Air Jordan III, IV, and V are not only incomparably diverse in terms of aesthetic design but have managed to resurface time and time again in OG and new color ways. This month obviously has been no exception to that point.
The “Fire Red” Air Jordan V will be released on August 31st in all its magnificence and glory. The shoe features a blacked out tongue with a bold “fire red” Jumpman logo, lining, mid-sole and “23” on a white leather base. Black and red accents throughout the shoe provide a nice contrast. Also, in the words of hood poet, gentlemens club charity host, and courtroom staple Gucci Mane, the blue tinted sole is “sooooo icy”. They will be available in men’s, GS and toddler sizes. Your best shot at obtaining these classics would be to call your local retailer and find out their release procedures.
