Check it, check it, check it ooooooout! If this track sounds familiar to any of our readers, well, that’s probably because you’ve heard this tune on an endless commercial loop thanks to the brilliant PR team for Target. Target who’s been savvy this year in zeroing-in on the Latino spending power, were clever to feature Latin Grammy Award-winning collective Bomba Estereo’s and their latest track titled “Soy Yo” as part of their brand campaign. This catchy tune has a contemporary spin to Colombian folkloric music that normally encompasses a gaita (Spanish for pipe, and is the incessant flute-like sound you keep hearing throughout the entire track). The video synopis is of a little powerhouse Latina who throws caution to the wind and could care less about others opinions – and rightfully so. Being the pop culture nerd that I am, can’t help but feel a little nostalgic for Blind Melon’s “No Rain“ where we also see a socially award little girl hone in on her strength through self acceptance to tell naysayers to suck it. We here at Snkrbst commend this little lady and repeat alongside her a resounding and booming, #AsiSoyYo! Stay tuned to Snkrbst.com for all the latest and greatest. And don’t forget to #ThinkLikeUs.
