Fashion Icon Oscar De La Renta Dies at 82

Today we mourn the passing of the late, great Oscar de la Renta. He passed away Monday night at the age of 82 after a long battle with cancer. Oscar captivated the world with his definition of fashion. His signature pieces and incredible sense of detail will forever be his legacy. The list of admirers encompasses the entire world – from the average shopper to political figures that includes the likes of Nancy Reagan, Hillary Clinton and Laura Bush. In recent months, Michelle Obama was spotted in one of Oscar’s garments at a White House event for aspiring fashion designers.

Oscar de la Renta was an extraordinary designer, but his expertise was making a woman feel confident. He was best known for his “Ladies Who Lunch” designs featuring the likes of Babe Paley and Marella Agnelli. From aristocrats to socialites, from celebrities to top executives – all of who were not only his devoted customers but genuine friends as well. He was a pioneer, a humanitarian, a family man, and an inspiration. You will be sorely missed – rest in power Oscar.
