Today, it is with great sadness to report pop icon, George Michael, has died at the age of 53. Founding member of Wham, singer/songwriter and legend with a career that stems as far back as the early 1980s has passed away on Christmas day due to heart failure as reported by the BBC. The living legend was adored worldwide for his contagious hooks, irreplaceable arrangements and innovative imagery as one of MTV’s musical pioneers.

His scope for imagination knew no bounds – and therefore set the bar for music video production rather high. Michael’s chart topping music videos are stables of American pop culture and has been replicated countless times over by contemporary artists.

For instance, he was the first to use day-glow makeup and clothing for “Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go.” He was the first to showcase Spanish actors (Rossy de Palma famous for being Pedro Almodovar muse/actress) and was featured in his sophomore hit titled “Too Funky music video. And of course, the cultural phenomena that was the beckon of the fashion industry – the 1990s era – where he was the first to showcase the “supermodels of the world” (i.e  Tyra Banks, Cindy Crawford, Linda Evangelista, Naomi Campbell, and the list is truly endless) for his legendary “Freedom” music video.

His music was even featured in Key and Peele’s 2016 hysterical dark comedy “Keanu” for comedic effect – but nonetheless, relevant. He was a visionary, a creative with no bounds, and an icon. You will be sorely missed and we thank you for your contribution to the world. Rest in power, George Michael.
