“Work, work, work, work, work, work…” is definitely what Ms. Rihanna is doing in her latest music video titled “Work.” The video’s teaser and official release is a two-for (a two for one). First video pays homage to the beauty’s dancehall roots and #globalbass culture. Visuals are reminiscent of 1990s dancehall reggae; and it appears to be the director’s poetic love letter to the pioneers that came before her (i.e. Terror Fabulous, Shabba Ranks, Chaka Demus and Pilers, Patra, Shaggy, etc.). Sidenote: if you don’t know the artists mentioned above and how their work continues to pay-it-forward, y’all better WERK on it (pun intended). Second video (that plays directly after) feels like the after-party – where the freaky, sneaky goes on. Vid plays like a “private dancer” (ala Tina Turner) moment between Rihanna and Drake – ah, if those walls could only talk, we can imagine what they’d say. Below, how about y’all work your fingers on down to the comment section and tell us which video you prefer.
