Twin musical duo Nina Sky dominated the summer of 2004 when they dropped the Billboard chart-climbing single “Move Your Body” and promptly followed it up with their eponymously titled debut album.
Since then the Queens natives have been finessing New York’s music scene, DJing and performing at venues around the city, and worldwide. In 2015 they also collaborated with Diplo and TroyBoi on the song “Afterhours” which went on to become a club favorite.
This summer they’re aiming for early 2000s vibes with a new, energetic, dancehall-riddim influenced single, “Champion Lover.” The song is their first label-backed release since 2004, and it’s exactly the Nina Sky we remember from overheated backyard parties. Also keep an eye out for their second album, Brightest Gold — it’s supposed to be dropping sometime in the near future.
“Champion Lover” is not available for purchase until June 24, but you can pre-order through Apple Music here. Source: “Nina Sky Is Back With a Summer-Flavored Song Called ‘Champion Lover’” By Stephanie Smith-Strickland, New Music for highsnobiety.com
