As a kid, I’ve always had a fascination with Nike running shoes – especially the Nike Air Huaraches. In my humble opinion, these sneakers are a must have for any sneaker enthusiast and/or collector. The show is best known for its design, style and comfort. I own almost every Nike Air Max sneaker and none are as comfortable as the Nike Air Huaraches. Most sneaker collectors may love the aesthetic of the shoe, but really don’t have a sense of history behind these Retros. The reason why the Nike Air Huaraches are a performance enhancing shoe is because of its designer, Tinker Hatfield. When Tinker initially started designing for Nike, he was inspired by water skiing shoes and wanted to implicate the same design and grip to the Nike running shoe. His design was created to contour to your foot – giving runners the sensation of wearing aqua shoes.
Now, knowing how much I love these shoes and hearing about its recent re-release, I immediately hopped in my car and headed straight to the mall. I worried if they’d still have a pair left – fortunately for me, Foot Locker provided. However, I’m dumbfounded on how many pairs were still available. I felt as if they should be a hot commodity by now and nearly impossible to get. As an avid collector, I strongly feel that fellow collectors need to stop sleeping on these Nike Retros – but then again, maybe that’s just me. Below, tell us here at Snkrbst.com your thoughts on this re-release. And, do you believe the Nike Air Huarches are getting the promotion/exposure they deserve? Comment and let us know.
