Pharrell Williams’ latest collaboration with Adidas has thrown the rule book out with regards to shoe design – paving the way for ambitious artists to stretch out their creative muscles. For his most recent project, Pharrell collaborated with four leading artists – all showcasing their individual talents – to bring this abstract vision to life. These individuals include New York-based artist Todd James, director/photographer Cass Bird, British architect Zaha Hadid, and Japanese artist Mr. (former protege of Takashi Murakami). A lineup of 10 Adidas Superstar models were presented to the team and given creative license over their chosen Adidas Shelltoe. Artists provided different graphics for their individual shelltoe – outcome: a total of four shelltoes are now being customized. Pharrell created a total of six unique shelltoe models in quest of inventiveness. Each design will come in either a black or white color-way. The Pharrell Williams x Supershell x Adidas Originals 2015 Artwork Collection will have a limited release and available in different regions of the world. Be sure to check out the videos below of Pharrell explaining the objective of the “Supershell” as well as each artist explaining their contribution to the impending collaboration.
