Coming off of yesterday’s global movement titled “#ADayWithoutAWoman,” a work strike and rally (heard around the world) held yesterday to demonstrate the frustration with Trump’s administration and its lack of humility towards all women – sparks a bevy of artistic expression. March 8th, which is synonymous with International Women’s Day – a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women – was the perfect date to highlight the world’s most impactful female trailblazers of modern day history.
Canyon Cody, (aka El Canyonazo) is a global music DJ, hip-hop producer and founder of Gnawledge Records. His mixes are played and known worldwide. Canyon’s latest remix (via bandcamp) is a befitting match to the current concern and cause. His remix of Sade’s “When Am I Going To Make A Living” has a fresh new dembow beat over her empowering, yet thoughtful lyrics. Sade will always be a trailblazer, as her work so flawlessly relates to the ever-evolving human condition. Take a gander at her pensive lyrics below; and then click on the link underneath to hear Canyon’s hot new beat. Tell us, will you bumping this track at the next rally? “When am I gonna make a living?
It’s gonna take a while before I give in.
See the people fussing and stealing.
Too many lies, no one is achieving.
Haven’t I told you before,
“We’re hungry for a life we can’t afford.”
There’s no end to what you can do.
If you give yourself a chance to prove.”
