Photography news website PetaPixel recently reported an outlandish amount of money spent on an extraordinarily stunning photo. According to their site, a private collector paid a reported $6.5 million dollars to Australian landscape photographer Peter Lik. Selected photo is titled “Phantom” and is now the most expensive photograph in the world. The photograph is of Arizona’s Antelope Canyon – a slot canyon that’s popular among landscape photographers, and shows a beam of light resembling a “ghostlike figure” hence its name. [PetaPixel] Enthused by Peter’s work, this same collector purchased two more prints, “Illusion” for $2.4 million dollars and “Eternal Moods” for $1.1 million. With this $10 million dollar sale, Lik now holds four of the top 20 spots for most successful and now very wealthy photographers of the world.
