Following a classic collaboration with Supreme last week, California based footwear, Vans announces their latest collaboration with Japanese artist Takashi Murakami. Murakami is best known for his contemporary artwork inspired by anime and an aesthetic Murakami coined called “Superflat”. Takashi artwork is colorful and he blends his style with ancient Japanese traditions with the contemporary art movements. Although we only have the official logo with no pictures of the collaboration. Fans can expect the contemporary creative’s “Superflat” characters across a number of footwear apparel and skate decks throughout the Vault by Vans line. The collaborative work falls under the brand’s Vault by Vans label so you can expect the upcoming pieces to be nothing short of premium. Fans of Murakami will recall his devotion to Vans’ famed Slip-On silhouette, with him even commenting: “For the past 10-plus years, without exaggeration, I have been wearing Vans Slip-Ons almost every single day”. Murakami said. “For me, there are no other shoes that are so comfortably wearable that let me focus on producing my artwork. I also feel extremely strong empathy for Vans’ brand concept and creative stance”. The Vault by Vans x Takashi Murakami collection will be released at select boutique retailers in late June. There you have it, Vans fans have another very cool collaboration to add to their wish list.
